The Task At Hand: The Accounting Manager reports to the Director of Accounting and plays a key role in leading the monthly close process, ensuring accuracy and compliance across financial reporting, technical accounting, and internal controls. This role is ideal for a hands-on, detail-oriented accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced CPG environment and is excited to support the demands of a newly public company. The Accounting Manager will collaborate cross-functionally, support SEC reporting, and help build scalable processes as the organization grows.
In This Role, You Will:
Manage financial close and reporting by leading key components of the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close, ensuring timely and accurate results, reconciliations, and supporting schedulesOversee day-to-day corporate, business unit, and international accounting, including GL activities, ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and in compliance with company policies and internal controlsPrepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and components of consolidated financial statementsAssist in the preparation of quarterly and annual SEC filings (10-Q, 10-K), including financial statements, footnotes, and MD&A supportSupport the annual audit by preparing schedules, responding to auditor requests, and ensuring appropriate documentationContribute to cash flow analysis, working capital monitoring, and banking or covenant reporting as neededSupport other activities and projects aligned with business prioritiesSupport technical accounting and compliance through monitoring evolving accounting standards, evaluating their impact on the company, and helping prepare technical accounting memos (e.g., ASC 606, 842, 718, 350/360)Support equity accounting, stock-based compensation expense calculations, and related disclosuresEnsure compliance with federal, state, and local reporting and tax requirementsMaintain and strengthen internal controls in accordance with SOX requirementsAssist in developing, updating, and enforcing accounting policies and proceduresPartner with Supply Chain & Operations and drive support through working with the inventory accounting team on inventory valuation, cost updates, co-packer invoice review, and operational accountingMonitor and analyze COGS, production variances, freight, and other manufacturing-related costsCollaborate with FP&A, Sales, Operations, and Supply Chain to ensure data accuracy and support close-related activitiesContinuously improve systems & tools by identifying opportunities to streamline, automate, and improve accounting workflows and month-end processesServe as an accounting lead for ERP oversight, including system enhancements, internal controls, and data integrityDrive adoption of close management tools (e.g., FloQast) and automation opportunities to accelerate close timelinesSupport system implementations and contribute to the development of dashboards and analytics tools (e.g., PowerBI, Looker) for internal reportingProvide team leadership through day-to-day guidance, coaching, and support to AP, AR, and GL staffHelp build a high-integrity, high-accountability culture grounded in accuracy, compliance, and collaborationSupport the development and growth of team members through clear expectations and constructive feedback
In This Role, You’ll Bring With You:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting required, while an MBA or MS is preferredCPA is required 6–8 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role Experience in a publicly traded company, preferably within the CPG or manufacturing sector Strong technical accounting research skills and experience drafting technical memos Experience with inventory accounting, cost accounting, or manufacturing/CPG environments is highly preferred Public accounting experience (Big 4 or national firm) strongly preferred Experience with ERP required or highly preferred; experience with automation/close tools (FloQast, Blackline) is a plus Experience designing or improving accounting processes to support a scaled, efficient month-end close Experience leading close acceleration efforts and implementing scalable processes in a high-growth environment Experience with CPG or inventory accounting is a strong plus Demonstrated expertise in leadership and relationship-building Able to interact effectively with all levels of management across all functional areas Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting, and SOX compliance Solid knowledge of Microsoft Suite, Outlook, Slack, and other professional platforms Proven team leadership and development skills Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple priorities Organized and able to prioritize in accordance with company requirements and compliance standards Strong reasoning and persuasive skills Up to 10% travel required: Although this role is a remote work-from-home position, we “Farmers” do meet as a company and/or as a department a few times a year. Compensation:
Salaried, Full-Time, ExemptThe anticipated salary range for this position is $110,000.00 to $140,000.00. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a few factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation, such as bonuses, stipends, equity, and role-specific perks.
