About the Role
Abilitie is seeking a US-based staff accountant to join our expanding, remote accounting department. We’re looking for an adaptable, detail-oriented and organized professional who is experienced with general accounting principles and functionality. This is a chance to grow your accounting and ad hoc skills within our fast-based startup environment. The ideal candidate is proficient with QuickBooks and Excel. This role reports to our Head of Accounting.
We anticipate this person will routinely work 10-15 hours per week. This position is offered on a part-time basis – it is not full-time, nor benefits eligible.
What You’ll Do
- Suggest process improvements to accounting leadership
- Monitor and report potential financial issues and risks while providing researched solutions when issues surface
- Maintain written and oral communications between the company and all relevant vendors and regulatory agencies
- Assist with financial reporting, analysis, reconciliation, month-end and year end reporting
- Perform billing, accounts payable/receivable duties, as needed
- Support ad hoc projects
Who You Are
- Strong analytical and organizational skills, ability to manage multiple priorities, and work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong written and verbal communications, problem solving skills and attention to detail
- Knowledge of and adherence to current US GAAP policies and procedures
- Proficiency in MS Excel, including VLOOKUPs and pivot tables
- Proficiency with relevant accounting software (QuickBooks)
- Experience with implementing and or automating accounting systems a plus
- Ideally have or pursuing a bachelor's degree in accounting, or a related field
- 2+ years experience as a staff accountant, ideally in a high-growth or remote-first environment
